Got Apples?

We planted 2 apple trees in our yard the year that C started kindergarten. One tree is a Granny Smith and the other is Red Delicious. They have cross pollinated and we now have Granny Delicious apples. hee,hee

Now, 7 years later, we have a HUGE crop of apples every year.

Every Saturday, we collect the fallen, yucky apples and throw them in the woods for the squirrels and deer. After that, the boys "shake" the tree and collect the ripe apples that fall to the ground.

I have a ton of apples cut and frozen for pies, 20 bags with 6 cups of sliced apples in each. Thank goodness for my freezer!

This weekend, Paint boy decided all the apple business needed to come to an end. He climbed his ladder and picked all the remaining apples.
I had a laundry basket full of apples to deal with before going back to work today.

I made a few pies and took them to neighbors and one to a cookout we attended.

Still not a dent in the basket.

I made a batch of apple butter.

Slight shift in the basket.

Nana Judy came over and we decided to make apple sauce. That woman is a professional peeler.
We worked for 5 hours and yielded 112 cups of applesauce.
I am not exaggerating.
112.
I had to put it in 3 cup freezer containers.
I counted.

Do you want some applesauce or maybe a pie?
